奧さんの語氣には非常に同情があつた。それでも口元丈には微笑が見えた。外側から云へば、私の方が寧ろ眞面目だつた。私は六づかしい顏をして默つてゐた。すると奧さんが急に思ひ出した樣に又口を開いた。

translation

Oku-san's tone was very sympathetic. Still, I could see a smile on my lips. Speaking from the outside, I was rather serious. I was silent with an embarrassed look on my face. Then Oku-san suddenly remembered and opened her mouth again.
