先生は大學出身であつた。是は始めから私に知れてゐた。然し先生の何もしないで遊んでゐるといふ事は、東京へ歸つて少し經つてから始めて分つた。私は其時何うして遊んでゐられるのかと思つた。

translation

The teacher was from a university. I knew this from the beginning. However, it wasn't until after I returned to Tokyo that I realized that Sensei was doing nothing and just playing around. I wondered how I could play around then.
