話はとう/\愚圖々々になつて仕舞つた。そのうちに昏睡が來た。例の通り何も知らない母は、それをたゞの眠と思ひ違へて反つて喜こんだ。「まああゝして樂に寐られゝば、傍にゐるものも助かります」と云つた。

translation

The conversation finally ended in a silly way. In the meantime, a coma came. As usual, my mother, who knew nothing about it, mistook it for mere sleep and was overjoyed. ``Well, if you can sleep comfortably like that, it will help those around you,'' he said.
