私は其夜十時過に先生の家を辭した。二三日うちに歸國する筈になつてゐたので、座を立つ前に私は一寸暇乞の言葉を述べた。

translation

"I left the teacher's house at around 10:00 that night." I was supposed to be back in Japan in a few days, so before I left the room, I asked for a moment's rest.
