先生は何とも答へなかつた。しばらくしてから、「私のは本當の墓參り丈なんだから」と云つて、何處迄も墓參と散歩を切り離さうとする風に見えた。私と行きたくない口實だか何だか、私には其時の先生が、如何にも子供らしくて變に思はれた。私はなほと先へ出る氣になつた。

translation

The teacher gave no answer. After a while, he said, ``I'm a true cemetery,'' and seemed to try to separate the cemetery from the walk. Whether it was because he didn't want to go with me or not, I found the teacher at that time to be very childish and strange. I was ready to go further.
