私は思想上の問題に就いて、大いなる利益を先生から受けた事を自白する。然し同じ問題に就いて、利益を受けやうとしても、受けられない事が間々あつたと云はなければならない。先生の談話は時として不得要領に終つた。其日二人の間に起つた郊外の談話も、此不得要領の一例として私の胸の裏に殘つた。

translation

I confess that I have received great benefits from my teacher regarding ideological issues. However, with regard to the same problem, I must say that there were times when I could not receive benefits even when I tried to receive them. Sensei's discourse ended at times in an unsatisfying way. The out-of-town conversation that took place between the two of them that day also remained in my mind as an example of this imperative.
