今云つた通り先生は始終靜かであつた。落付いてゐた。けれども時として變な曇りが其顏を横切る事があつた。窓に黒い鳥影が射すやうに。射すかと思ふと、すぐ消えるには消えたが。私が始めて其曇りを先生の眉間に認めたのは、雜司ヶ谷の墓地で、不意に先生を呼び掛けた時であつた。私は其異樣の瞬間に、今迄快よく流れてゐた心臟の潮流を一寸鈍らせた。然しそれは單に一時の結滯に過ぎなかつた。私の心は五分と經たないうちに平素の彈力を囘復した。私はそれぎり暗さうなこの雲の影を忘れてしまつた。ゆくりなくまた夫を思ひ出させられたのは、小春の盡きるに間のない或る晩の事であつた。

As I just said, Sensei was quiet all the time. I was calm. Sometimes, however, a strange cloudiness crossed over his face. Like a black bird's shadow on a window. I thought I was going to shoot it, but it disappeared as soon as it disappeared. The first time I noticed the cloudiness between Sensei's eyebrows was when I suddenly called out to him at the cemetery in Toshigaya.
