室の廣さは八疊でした。床の横に違ひ棚があつて、縁と反對の側には一間の押入が付いてゐました。窓は一つもなかつたのですが、其代り南向の縁に明るい日が能く差しました。

translation

The size of the room was 8 tatami mats. There was a different shelf on the side of the floor, and a closet on the opposite side of the edge. There were no windows, but the bright sun shined brightly on the south-facing rim.
