translation
I went to bed earlier than usual that night. When I complained that I was in a bad mood at dinner, Okusan brought me soba-yu around ten o'clock. However, my room was already pitch black. Okusan said goodbye and opened the sliding door. The light of the western lantern slid obliquely into my room from K's desk. K appears to be still awake. Okusan sat by his bedside and said that he probably caught a cold, so he should warm himself up, and held the cup to his face. Unusually, I drank the muddy soba-yu in front of Okusan.
