斯んな事で時間が掛つて歸りは夕飯の時刻になりました。奥さんは私に對する御禮に何か御馳走すると云つて、木原店といふ寄席のある狹い横丁へ私を連れ込みました。横丁も狹いが、飯を食はせる家も狹いものでした。此邊の地理を一向心得ない私は、奥さんの知識に驚ろいた位です。

translation

"Things like that took time, and it was time for dinner." Okusan offered me a treat as a reward, and took me to the Kihara store, a narrow alley with a vaudeville theater. The alleys were narrow, and so were the houses that provided food. As someone who doesn't know the geography of this area at all, I was astonished by her knowledge.
