其日は丁度主治醫が町から院長を連れて來る筈になつてゐたので、母と私はそれぎり此事件に就いて話をする機會がなかつた。二人の醫者は立ち合の上、病人に浣腸などをして歸つて行つた。

translation

My mother and I hadn't had the chance to talk about the incident since the doctor was supposed to be bringing the director from town that day. The two doctors attended, gave the sick man an enema, and then left.
