私は自分の部屋に這入つて、其所に放り出された行李を眺めた。行李は何時持ち出しても差支ないやうに、堅く括られた儘であつた。私はぼんやり其前に立つて、又繩を解かうかと考へた。

translation

"I went into my room and looked at the carriage that had been thrown there." The carriage was tied up so tightly that it could be taken out at any time. I stood absentmindedly in front of it, thinking about untying the rope again.
