父はたゞ是丈しか云はなかつた。然し私は此簡單な一句のうちに、父が平生から私に對して有つてゐる不平の全體を見た。私は其時自分の言葉使ひの角張つた所に氣が付かずに、父の不平の方ばかりを無理の樣に思つた。

translation

My father could only say something. However, in this simple sentence, I saw the full extent of the grievances my father had always had against me. At that time, I didn't notice the sharpness of my words, and I found my father's complaints rather unreasonable.
