奧さんは昔同じ病氣で死んだといふ自分の御母さんの事でも憶ひ出したのか、沈んだ調子で斯ういつたなり下を向いた。私も父の運命が本當に氣の毒になつた。

translation

Oku-san seemed to remember her own mother, who had died of the same disease a long time ago, and looked down in a depressed tone. I too felt sorry for my father's fate.
